Thursday June 19th (Juneteenth)

Juneteenth Meaning - Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's a powerful reminder that freedom, justice, and equality have always required persistent voices and collective action. Today, Juneteenth is honored as a celebration of Black culture, resilience, and achievement, with communities coming together through music, food, storytelling, and education. Whether you're attending a local event or simply taking a moment to reflect, this day invites us all to recognize the past and actively shape a more inclusive future.
